  • metricsserver: /metrics serves prometheus.DefaultGatherer together
    with the server's own registry
  • version: without -ldflags VERSION, report the Go module version
    (git tag or pseudo-version) from debug.BuildInfo; "+dirty" is
    removed and reported in the new Info.Modified field; "(devel)"

  • version: CheckVersion compares pseudo-versions as the release they
    lead up to; pseudo-versions with no tag history always pass
